Student Directors Display Their Best in 10 Minutes or Less

Farrah Fletcher, co-editor

Students in Theater III at CCCHS will be given the opportunity to exhibit their talent through student-directed plays. This year eleven plays, all lasting 10 minutes in duration, are being presented on May 11 and 12.  Eleven students utilize what they’ve learned throughout the year to compose an original play that they must write, cast, and direct. According to Joseph Melton, one of the directors, getting the actors to memorize their lines is one of the hardest parts of directing. He advises students considering directing a play not to take it lightly, emphasizing that it’s a big undertaking. Despite the sometimes stressful aspects of taking on the task of directing a play, Melton looks forward to the productions, saying “It will be a fun night. Our productions really push the boundaries of normal high school plays.”
