Booth Sinks Over 20 Points Back to Back
December 11, 2017
Point guard Garrett Booth is breaking the mold for point guards scoring more than 20 points in back to back games. After scoring 25 points against Grundy County, which is Booth’s highest scoring game in his 13 year basketball career, Booth racked up another 20 points against Fayetteville. Although the majority of these points in both games came from mid range jump shots, he managed to drain a few three pointers and free throws as well. When asked about what made this success possible Booth responded,“I owe it all to my teammates and coaches. My teammates kept feeding me the ball, and I thank them. I was just feeling it, got in a rhythm, and just kept shooting.”
Booth developed a passion for the game at a very young age. “I just simply love the game. I’ve tried to study the game and break it down into ways most players don’t do. I remember as a young kid in the driveway dreaming of taking the last shot of a championship game, counting down the seconds to myself and shooting the crazy shot and, to be honest, I probably shot 1,000 shots trying to hit it, and only connected maybe 10 times. It has helped me today in clutch scenarios,” Booth said. These hundreds of hours of hard work and dedication led to Booth becoming the team captain this year. Booth plans on attending college on a basketball scholarship and pursuing the game as a coach passing along his love of the game to others.
