Parsley Promoted to Principal

Loyal – that is one word CCCHS’s new principal, Paul Parsley, would use to describe himself. In work related or personal aspects of his life, he always tries his best to incorporate loyalty into them.

Mr. Parsley has been loyal in his various roles at our school for all of his twenty years of service to CCCHS. In August of 1990 he moved here for his sophomore year of high school. Since then he became a CCCHS graduate, taught social studies here for six and half years, worked as an assistant principal for more than 13 years, including five years as principal of the ninth grade, and is now the principal.

When asked what his favorite part of being an administrator was, Mr. Parsley replied that he enjoys creating a positive impact in students’ lives. His reason for making the switch from being a teacher to being an assistant principal was that he wanted to make a different kind of impact that was not possible as a teacher. The biggest difference that Mr. Parsley has noticed since becoming the principal is that much of his time is spent implementing policies and procedures.

In terms of changes this year, Mr. Parsley named one specifically which is an increased focus on literacy. Teachers and staff will be building upon students’ previous knowledge even in classes that would not typically focus on English, such as physical education and art.

Mr. Parsley spends his free time watching college sports and doing outdoor activities with his family. He enjoys snow days just as much as the students do and has a passion for visiting historical locations. One important part of his life is his 17 month old daughter, Caroline, whom he loves to watch grow up.

Mr. Parsley is determined to continue the great traditions at CCCHS and develop new ones.
