CCCHS Helps Families in Need

Sara Dove and Jordan Whetsel

On Friday, March 15, the CCCHS Student Government Association and First Baptist Church worked together to unload and hand out food to families in need. The food drive was open to families with children enrolled in either a Coffee County school or a Manchester City school. The food was purchased from the Second Harvest Food Bank and paid for by both the Coffee County Family Resource Center and First Baptist Church.

Students arrived at the church and began unloading the food-packed transfer truck at 6:45 a.m., and by 9:00 a.m. all the food was unpacked and ready for distribution.

The types of food that were donated for the mobile pantry included but was not limited to the following:

  • Fresh produce
  • Pasta
  • Instant coffee
  • Oatmeal
  • Various canned foods
  • Assorted desserts
  • Bread
  • Chips
  • Milk
  • Pudding
  • Tea
  • Potatoes
  • Protein shakes

CCCHS was thankful for the opportunity to help so many families in need and hopes next year is just as successful.
