CCCHS junior, Konor Heaton, gains 1,000 rushing yards three-quarters of the way through the Raider’s 2021 football season.

Heaton attributes part of his success to working hard in the off-season: “I just worked really hard on getting stronger during the off-season so I can run the ball with more ease and break tackles [more easily].”

Along with working hard in the off-season, Heaton says his teammates are another factor in what helped him achieve his 1,000 rushing yards.

“My teammates,” says Heaton, “helped me a lot with making me get better at practice so I can be successful come game time. Especially the linemen because they encourage me to keep running the ball when I’m tired or hurting.”

1,000 rushing yards wasn’t the only thing Heaton achieved, though: Heaton got nominated for “Tennessee’s Athlete of the Week” for the Tennessean.

Honored, Heaton says these achievements just show how much hard work can really pay off.

But Heaton’s not stopping here.

“I’m just going to keep pushing for more yards,” Heaton says, “and a playoff win for Coffee County, which has never happened.”

In addition to this year’s successes, Heaton adds that he still has next season to improve.

All in all, Heaton has achieved an impressive feat of 1,000 rushing yards; however, he’s not done putting in the hard work and effort yet, so follow along with CCCHS Red Raiders football to see what else the team and Heaton accomplish together.
