“Halloween Kills” presents gore instead of plot
October 30, 2021
Since we are close to Halloween, scary movies are a must for most people. Blood, masks, and weapons cannot be left out in these. Matching that, David Gordon Green released a new movie on Oct. 15: “Halloween Kills.”
Halloween kills is a sequel to the 2018 movie “Halloween,” and part of a whole series of Halloween movies. The actual original of these movies was released in 1978.
The title “Halloween kills” really lives up to its name. There are lots of murderers, dead people, and bloody scenes.
The movie is set in Haddonfield, Illinois. It is Halloween night when Laurie Strode, her daughter Karen, and granddaughter Allyson escaped their basement after successfully fighting the serial murderer Michael Myers.
They set their house on fire while the murderer was caged to make sure he would die. Since we are at the beginning of the movie, it’s obvious that he doesn’t die.
For the first time in forty years, Michael Myers shows up in his hometown. During the movie, the town bands together to end Myers for all time as “Evil dies tonight.”
People remember Michael Myers when he shows up and kills people on Halloween in 1978.
That is one point that doesn’t make sense to me. Forty years ago, the inhabitants of the town were children. Was Michael Myers was always an adult? That would mean that the current Michael Myers is about eighty years old.
However, Michael Myers starts killing lots of people.
During the movie, it becomes very obvious when Michael shows up again to kill his new victim. That takes away a lot of the tension because you can already imagine what happens next.
While Laurie Strode receives medical care in the hospital, her daughter Karen finds out that Michael is still alive. To protect her mother, she doesn’t tell her.
Meanwhile, the band of Haddonfield inhabitants follows an innocent guy they think could be Michael Myers. For safety, he flees to the hospital where he is forced to attempt suicide because the bond won’t give him a chance.
At that time, the real Michael Myers targets his old parents’ house. Allyson and her ex-boyfriend try to find him there since Michael’s old family house is the place where he started killing.
Michael ends up killing the ex-boyfriend.
When he targets Allyson, Karen comes in at the last moment to protect her because she could take the mask off his face.
I think this part is exciting because everyone wanted to see his face. But, of course, they didn’t show his face, which was really disappointing.
The whole village of Haddonfield shows up at Michael’s house to finally kill him. Everyone was filled with hatred, so they stabbed him and shot him several times.
The audience was happy for the village because there was no way that Michael Myers could have survived.
Everyone was happy that they could end Michael Myers as a group and could live in peace now, but this is a horror movie.
Michael Myers needed a few minutes to get done with all the attacks. After that, he stood up and killed everyone. That is the end of the movie.
It was disappointing because I watched a one hour and 45 minute movie for nothing. All the movie does is show murderers without any sense.
Even though there is a plot, the movie was very messy and crazy. In my opinion, it doesn’t make sense that the inhabitants of Haddonfield don’t know what Michael Myers looks like.
Why would they know his name but not know how he looks? Did he kill his whole life while wearing his mask all the time?
The other thing is that Michael Myers is immortal.
On one hand, I get that because there will be another movie in that series, which will be released in 2022. On the other hand, it doesn’t make sense because Michael is a human.
He was stabbed and shot so many times that there could be no chance that he would have survived.
All in all, for my first horror movie, I think it was definitely scary, but it was very messy. It was unrealistic that Michael could not die.
I watched this whole movie, but in the end, there was not really a plot. At some point, I got tired of all the bloody murders and the terrified screams of the victims.
The number of deaths was definitely plentiful. If you plan on watching a horror movie, I wouldn’t really recommend this one.
If you like violence and a lot of blood and murder, you should go watch it. Even though I have not watched other scary movies, I think there are definitely better horror movies that are more worthy of being watched.
