This year at CCCHS, we have an abundance of new teachers that are all going to get a moment in the spotlight. One of the new teachers is Mr. Tyrell Campbell; he is located in the special education department and has been in a classroom environment for fourteen years in total.
Although Campbell is a suit and tie teacher, he breaks every norm within the job. He describes himself as “cool and unique” because he’s not like any other teacher in Coffee County. In his free time, Campbell enjoys riding bikes, and one of his greatest accomplishments is biking across all of the Southeast. He says, “When I’m not at school, no one recognizes me. I have tattoos, long hair, and I wear flip flops and tank tops. Or I’m on my bike which makes everyone do a double take.”
Campbell became interested in teaching special services in college when he partook in community service through his engineering program at MTSU, which is what his major initially was in college. He volunteered with special ed elementary school students, and realized he enjoyed it. He said “I immediately loved the environment, and because of all the time I spent volunteering, I realized I wanted to be in this environment permanently.”
Campbell greatly enjoys his job, when he was asked what the best and worst thing about his job was he responded with; “The best part is my interaction with students and being able to have a positive impact. As for the worst, nothing. I love coming to work everyday because of not only students, but my coworkers too!”
Lastly, he wanted to give students a piece of advice and encouragement. He said, “You have to take care of yourself because no one else will. Don’t depend on others and persevere in life!” He said he lives by that, and hopes it will help others just as it does the people close to him.
CCCHS is excited to welcome and get to know Mr. Campbell, along with new memories that will be made in the special services department. He brings nothing but positivity to the faculty and staff.
