Overconsumption is excessive consumption or use of goods and services that cause harm or detrimental effects to humans and/or the environment. So why do we need to know? It’s becoming a problem.
It’s becoming a trend to be aesthetic with how many different varieties of the same product you can own. Instead of being a minimalist, many take the word maximalist to the next level. It is crazy how many facial products one girl needs. Most spend hundreds of dollars on things that are going to expire before using them.
Most influencers are encouraging their massive following to spend anywhere from $50-$900 buying designer brands such as Chanel, Dior, Avene, etc.. If you are to say anything against them, most of them will retort by saying it’s “being prepared” and saying “it’s essential and necessary.” It’s not.
Most of this will be thrown away causing a bigger problem with plastics and wasted materials. Most of them will be thrown away because of expiration dates. It is not ‘aesthetic’ to own as many things as possible. It’s not necessary! It has a detrimental effect we don’t even know about yet and will find out the hard way. Stick with the things you need.
