Monday, Aug. 19, marked the first art club meeting at CCCHS. With 10 returning members and 23 new ones, Art Club co-presidents Cali Dunham and Eliza Rowell had their work cut out for them.
For the first activity of the year, the presidents put together an icebreaker that focused on getting everyone to learn each other’s names and faces. Blindfolding each student, they were directed to draw themselves without being able to see. After the papers were collected, they tried to guess which portrait belonged to which person.
There was plenty of conversation and laughter over this game, and it seemed as though everyone was having fun. A new member, senior Wild Martin, stated that her first meeting was, “very eventful, but exciting!” She stated that she will be returning for the next club meeting.
We have a lot planned for this year’s Art Club. At the first meeting, a list of activities for the 32 total meetings was announced. Some of those activities include making balloon animals, using resin, and painting a mural at a local elementary school.
Both of the presidents are very excited for the upcoming meetings and are ecstatic about the amount of new members joining the Art Club family. We hope to see returners and even some new faces at our weekly Wednesday meetings at 3 p.m!
