Coffee County provided us another great year for the fair. Being a big tradition starting 167 years ago in 1857, this fun, family-loving attraction holds tractor pulls, fun rides, beauty pageants, livestock showing, and arts and crafts. It lasts for nine days, with schools letting out on the last Friday of those nine days for fair attendance! If someone isn’t interested in rides or tractor pulls, they have a rodeo as well. From big ol’ bucking bulls to racing around a barrel at the speed of light, you name it and they got it! The fair is for all ages and accompanies everyone’s interests.
Sadly and quickly it ends faster than we tend to think or see. But don’t fear, the fair is open from early morning to almost midnight thanks to the hard-working volunteers and companies that lend the rides.
Another exciting feature of the fair is the annual Kid’s Day! They hold competitions for the youth of Coffee County, including pageants, races, and art competitions. This year, my little sister competed with her best friend, and I was there supporting her the whole way. When asked why she wanted to go, she responded, “I wanna get that trophy back and bring it to school!”
Saturday, Sept. 7th was the last day, a shame for anyone who missed it. There was great food, shows, animals, and events. This only happens once a year for nine days, and nobody ever regrets attending! Our little town loves having our own humongous, rambunctious fair!
