Derrick Neal is the newest addition to the English wing at CHS. When asked about some of the activities he likes and the reasons he chose to teach he said, “As a kid, I had a huge passion for history. It also helped that my mother, who teaches here also, introduced me to the teaching environment early in life.”

Neal shared that he had studied abroad in Mexico, Ireland, and England. He graduated from MTSU and has taught as a student teacher at Riverdale High and at the Raider Academy. His response about what brought him to CHS was, ”Not only did my mom influence me to come here, but Coffee County holds a sense of togetherness I’ve felt nowhere else.”

Neal clarifies his interests and what most students do not know about him by saying, “I like to workout and read a lot. What I like doing most though is working on the farm with my dad and grandpa. As far as something students don’t know about me would be that most of them knew I cheered in high school; what they don’t know is I also played football for the duration of my high school career.”

Mr. Derrick Neal is a wonderful asset to CHS.
