CCCHS’s newest CDC teacher, Priscilla Van Tries, has a passion for travelling, as well as working in special services.

Priscilla Van Tries is one of the multiple new teachers whom CCHS has welcomed to work on its campus. She has an extensive background in special education services, and attended seven different colleges before settling down at MTSU to earn her undergraduate degree, master’s degree, and educational specialist’s degree.

When asked what sets her class apart from others, Mrs. Van Tries stated that the classes she teaches are more hands-on and teach life skills needed in the future.

Mrs. Van Tries has been working since 1981, and has worked as a special education director for two schools,  at MTSU for six years, and overseas for six years. She is returning to the classroom after 30 years since most of her time was spent as an administrator.

Van Tries has worked with adults and preschoolers in past years, but when asked what brought her to CHS, she replied, “I live in the area, and I wanted to work for the best principal in the world. Plus, I like the age group.” Van Tries also added that the school has a better climate, is more caring, and focuses more on students than her previous schools. Her positive attitude and expertise will be a wonderful asset to the school.
