The Phillips’ Phantom
November 3, 2017
Mrs. Betsy Phillips is no novice when it comes to paranormal experiences.
Mrs. Phillips teaches English and French, and most students who have passed through her class have heard her chilling ghost stories.
Phillips lives with her husband and two young daughters in Manchester. One of her first encounters with the ghost occurred when her oven would not preheat. When she checked the oven, she noticed that the clock started to inexplicably rapidly change time.
Phillips’ neighbors have also informed her that they can see vague shadows, or “shadow people”, outside her home at night. These spirits often activate the home’s motion sensor lights. A babysitter’s boyfriend has also confirmed that he saw a shadowy figure and felt a strange presence watching him from the hallway.
Furthermore, Mrs. Phillips once saw a shadow pass in front of her and her husband while watching television one evening. Moments later, several drawings that were on her magnetized door fell to the floor, but the magnets stayed in place. Her daughters have also heard their names being called and been asked to play by the ghost.
Many other unexplained events involving toys have occurred such as raggedy Ann and Andy dolls being thrown across a room and the children’s electronic toys coming to life and singing after the sun goes down. Needless to say her children do not get toys that can sing anymore.
Phillips has contacted investigators and they have said that the haunt is most likely due to “something related to the Civil War,” and there is a possibility that the alleged poltergeist could have been a casualty of the war who wanted to stay behind. The specter is not evil or malevolent just mischievous and playful according to Phillips.
