Lady Raiders Take a Swing at the First Half of Their Season

With spring sports underway, the Coffee County Central High School Lady Raider softball team is not off to a strong start this season. As of the release of this article, their district record is 3-1, their overall record on the season is 6-9.

So far this season, the team batting average is .329 with sophomore Sarah West leading the team with an average of .429. West is also leading in RBI’s with 16, and leading in hits with 21. Junior Katie Rutledge is not far behind with 20 hits on the season. West and freshman Kerri Munn are tied for the most home runs, both with 2 each. As a team, the Lady Raiders have a total of 468 plate appearances, 404 at bats, 92 runs, 133 hits, 81 RBI’s, 32 doubles, 4 triples, and 6 home runs. Since last season, the Lady Raiders have improved tremendously.

On the defensive side, despite a total of 23 errors on the season, the Lady Raiders have a fielding percentage of .921.

The Lady Raiders will host the Eaglettes from Shelbyville on Tuesday, April 10. Junior Varsity will play at 5:30  The first pitch for varsity will be thrown at 7:00.
