Dr. Vaughn Promoted to Deputy Director

Vanessa Willis, editor in chief

Dr. Joey Vaughn, the principal of CCHS, has been promoted to deputy director of the Coffee County School system.

This opportunity is available because Joe Pedigo, the current deputy director, is retiring beginning July 1. Pedigo has been apart of the Coffee County education system for 41 years. He worked as a teacher and also in administration. He is retiring to spend more time with family and to work on his farm. Dr. Vaughn is an experienced replacement and is expected to thrive in his new position. He has 28 years of experience, serving five years as the principal of CCHS, six years as a teacher and coach, and 11 years as the principal of two other schools.

In his new position as deputy director, Dr. Vaughn will be in charge of operations such as construction, transportation, safety, security, maintenance and human resources. This promotion gives him the opportunity to further his professional career and continue to move up within the county school system. Despite the excitement and anticipation of the new career, Dr. Vaughn states that he will miss his time here and relationships he was able to build with his students and faculty.

The Coffee Press would like to wish Dr. Joey Vaughn good luck and success in his new career!
