On Friday, October 5, former CCCHS and Raider Academy teacher, Alexis Mauldin passed away with ALS after battling symptoms for six years.

Her official diagnosis of ALS was confirmed in January; however, she had been faced with traits of the disease for six years. A few months after her diagnosis, Ms. Mauldin moved with her daughter, Ally Rose Wang, and her family to Round Rock, TX. She previously taught in Texas before moving to Tennessee and began teaching in the English department here at CCCHS. Ms. Mauldin later taught a variety of history classes which included U.S History, AP U.S. History, world history and geography. In her younger years, she loved horses and often competed in rodeos. The love Ms. Mauldin shared for all animals was seen in the efforts she made welcoming rescued animals into her home whenever possible.

Following her passing, previous students of Ms. Mauldin are leaving wonderful tributes to her passion for teaching and caring attitude on Facebook. Ms. Mauldin will be greatly missed by all students and faculty at CCCHS and many more whom her life had an impact on.
