A former Coffee County baseball coach has been sentenced to eight years at the Tennessee State Prison for statutory rape, aggravated rape, sexual exploitation of a minor, and possession of child pornography.

Weir worked at Coffee County Raider Academy as a teacher in late May of 2014, and he was head baseball coach at the high school. The 46 year-old Weir was investigated for a relationship with a student. 

Additionally, Weir is facing charges in Hamilton County for allegedly hitting a man with his car. He was served an arrest warrant for the alleged aggravated assault, and later charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. He served the last five months at the Coffee County jail. He is now in state custody.
