Student Talent Showcased in Fine Arts Night

Kathryn Welch, Business Manager

On February 21, CCCHS will host a Fine Arts Night where a variety of artwork and performances will be presented. Fine Arts teachers collaborate on this night to bring the community a display of local talent seen through students. This event will be held from 5-8 p.m. in the CCCHS commons. Admission is free but snacks and drinks will be for sale. These proceeds will go towards benefitting the Fine Arts department.  There will be a variety of performances presented from the theater class, guitar class, band, show choir, and women’s chorale. Both CMS and WMS have been invited this year to participate in this event as well. There are no formal qualifications when entering art work. According to Ms. Petersen, “The students choose what they consider to be their best works.” The hopes of all fine arts teachers are that this night would be an event that will show the community what students do here in many art forms. “Our athletes are seen week after week as they play, but many of our artists don’t have a chance to put their skills on display,” states Ms. Petersen. Art classes will be displaying work from this year, and there will be an Art Club exhibit of personal work as well. Art students will be creating works of art live, so people can watch them as they create. Not only is this night meant for just showcasing student talent but evoking a response by viewers and attendees. The purpose of any art is to make people think or feel something. From this night, “people have the chance to see something new, thought provoking, or even just aesthetically pleasing,”  Petersen continued. This event is designed to be like an open house. Drop in and appreciate the display and performances of talented youth.
