Vouchers are Destroying Public Education, According to CCCHS’ Teachers

Yanely Luna, Editor-in-Chief

As the push for private education becomes more prominent, teachers at CCCHS have begun to fight back.

Yesterday morning, April 17, CCCHS’ teachers stood outside of the school protesting the new legislation which may pass under Governor Bill Lee. A “voucher” is a savings account which will allow families in low-performing school districts to take money out for a private education. Families would receive $7,500 for any expense towards an education.

Our teachers voiced their opinion this morning with many handmade signs against the bill. They believe that the voucher system would discourage public education, and took charge of the situation. Mr. Stein organized the protest, and many teachers took part.
