Senior member of the Raiderette dance team Jaxen Waggoner received the All-American reward during the Universal Dance Association summer camp this July.

An All-American routine consists of two eight-counts of pom, jazz, and hip-hop and two eight-counts of the dancer’s original choreography. All seniors are eligible to try out on the third day of camp in groups of two or three.

Coach Ashlyn Lee states, “Our current senior captains, Makenna Orrick and Hallie Pittman, also received the award their junior year. It’s an incredible feeling for the dance team member AND COACH!”

The All-American reward is given to dancers who exhibit great technique, memorization, and facial expressions.

Waggoner describes All-American as, “when people from different UDA camps all try out for one team and do special events all around the world!”

Along with All-American, Waggoner received blue ribbons for each routine she performed during the dance event.

Waggoner has the chance to participate in the Varsity Spirit Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii in December of this year along with the Orlando Thanksgiving Tour in Florida during November.

“I have always wanted to get All-American. I feel as though my 12 years of dance has finally paid off!”

Coach Lee also stated, “I am so proud of Jaxen for receiving this honor. This is her first and last year on the team, as she is a senior member, so having her receive this award was amazing. I am so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone. I can’t wait to see what she continues to achieve for the remainder of the season!”

Waggoner has set up many fundraisers in hopes of raising money for her upcoming trips, including a go fund me and local businesses helping out! So far she has raised upwards of $1,000.
