Class Project Motivates Seniors

A new project aspires to be the remedy for upperclassmen suffering from senioritis.

For some seniors, school days can seem endless, and graduation day seems to be an eternity away. Motivation can be decreased and even dropping out can be a result. Student government, with the help of Mrs. Nicole Carney, is initiating a tradition this year at Coffee County Central High School to help students stay motivated to achieve their goals and eventually, graduate. Members of student government saw a similar project at a convention and decided to start it at CCCHS.

Essentially, the project is simple — senior students will sign a designated graduation gown, and one student will be voted as the one to wear the gown on graduation night.  After graduation, the gown will be rewarded to the class president and will be displayed at class reunions to come. The signing of the gown will take place in April or May according to Mrs. Carney. There have been discussions about requirements regarding who can wear the gown, but no conclusions have been made.

The graduation gown project may prove to be a new tradition here at CCCHS, giving students a goal to reach for and a memory to keep.
