Dr. Vanessa Harriman, one of the new special education teachers at CHS, chose to work in special services because she felt it could help her make a difference in the world.

This is Dr. Harriman’s second year working in special services.  Her ability to state lessons in an easier, more understandable way helps her teach students skills they haven’t completely caught on to yet.

In her 17 years of teaching, Dr. Harriman has taught math, elementary music, and English IV at various schools, including Liberty High School in Jackson, Daniel-Mckee Alternative school in Murfreesboro, Overall Creek Elementary in Murfreesboro, and Rockwell Middle School in Knoxville.  A major difference she has noticed at CHS, besides the fact that this is not an alternative school, is that the students here are friendlier and have better manners.

Dr. Harriman attended a total of four universities: MTSU, Trevecca,  and online at Graceland and Western Governors.  She obtained her doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville.   In her free time, she enjoys playing piano and watching Roller Derby in Nashville.

Dr. Harriman says she is  “very happy to be a part of the CCHS family.”
